How a Messianic Jewess beat the odds and became one of the only female photographers to enter dangerous conflict zones.

To serve as an army photographer in Israel is a near impossibility.

But for 20-year-old Dor Metanoya, the dream of becoming a combat photographer was the driving force behind her leaving Brazil in exchange for a life of risk and faith to serve as a lone soldier in the IDF.

When I met with Dor for this interview, I encountered a 25-year-old, 1.52-meter-tall (5′) force of nature. How on earth a person could hold a camera on top of shouldering a backpack twice their size and weight was a thing of wonder. But within minutes, it was clear this was no ordinary person.

A modern-day David and Goliath story took form in the implausible yet true account of a fearless woman who, when dark smoke billows to the skies, runs toward it instead of away.

    Why can’t I read the remainder of the article about Dor Metanoya ? This keeps happening, I read so much and then can read no more, being unable to scroll down.
    Is there a reason for this ? Is there some shortfall in my membership that I need to be aware of ?
