Genesis is my favorite book of the Bible.

It contains everything, and every time through I discover something new, every time I am surprised! In honor of this year’s cycle of parashot (weekly readings), I would like to share an insight that answered the question, “Why is life in a constant state of flux?”

Why did God create the world in six days? Had He wanted, God could have created everything in a single day, been done with it and rested. But He didn’t, He decided to do it in stages. And following each stage, He looked at what He had made and “saw that it was good!”

It turns out that the good He created on the first day did not ultimately satisfy Him, and so God continued creating. What message does this convey to us? When we are being creative we look at our work, the results, and they motivate us to continue. This is exactly how God worked.
