If we take a look at the domestic problems in Israel, one might be tempted to answer that question in the negative. But if we consider what is happening in the world of innovations and inventions, a very promising picture emerges.
Every year, TIME Magazine publishes a list of the top 100 inventions and innovations.
This year, no fewer than nine Israeli innovations were listed, an incredible feat when considering the size, limited resources and small population.
A discovery by a team of scientists from the Hebrew University (HU) in Jerusalem could not yet be included in TIME’s list, but certainly would have been considering the future impact it will have on cancer patients.
Israeli media reported on Tuesday that the HU team had discovered a method whereby chemotherapy is delivered directly into cancer cells alone. The method means that from now on, chemotherapy no longer destroys healthy body cells, which in many cases causes the death of the patient rather than the disease itself.
