Many young Israelis travel to the Far East after their army service. They want to unwind and explore the world before life begins in earnest with study and employment. Recently, however, a different breed of army veterans have been undertaking the trip to India: dogs from the Oketz Canine Unit that were trained to sniff out explosives and weapons. Over the last year, the Indian security forces have received 30 such dogs from Israel. They are to be deployed in protecting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other top politicians. The Telegraph India recently published a feature story on these unique Israeli warriors.
