Israeli Special Forces Commended for War on Terror

For months, Israel has been conducting operations in Judea and Samaria to arrest terrorists and make the country more secure.

The Golani Brigade’s reconnaissance battalion and the elite counter-terrorism police unit Yamam were awarded commendations by the IDF Chief of Staff this week for their dedicated efforts during the ongoing war on Palestinian terror.

For the past several months the IDF and Israel Police have been conducted a counter-terror offensive focused primarily on northern Samaria (the so-called “West Bank”). The operation, known as “Wave Breaker,” was launched after a series of Palestinian attacks that killed 19 people earlier in the year.

As part of this campaign, more than 2,000 suspects have been arrested and to date 125 Palestinians killed in almost nightly raids. The majority died in attacks or clashes with security forces, although some were bystanders.

The elite Duvdevan unit and the Border Police undercover unit also received awards.

The four special forces units were involved in almost nightly raids, as well as larger operations, such as fighting the new Nablus-based terrorist group “Lion’s Den.”
