The app, developed for the home design company Houzz, was created by Israelis Adi Tatarko and Alon Cohen, a married couple now living in the US. It enables users to connect directly with home decorators at no charge, giving them access to hundreds of thousands of high-quality photos of rooms and items from a variety of angles.

This app links together those seeking to decorate their homes with those who have the skills to do it. Company VP Liz Hausman calls it a “niche social network.”

Once you sign up, you have access to pictures, service providers and products for sale. You decide what you want to accomplish and are then directed to people and merchandise that can fulfill your needs.

You might choose to simply “get inspired” with photos you can add to your “ideabook,” a kind of pin-board to store pictures that inspire you. There is also an online mini-mall where you can make purchases.
