Tensions have been running high between Israel and Turkey for the past decade. But that didn’t stop a pair of Israeli bakers from stealing the show at the recent International Bread Festival held in the Turkish capital of Ankara. The Israeli representatives, husband and wife team Keren and Itzik Kadosh, joined forces with local Turkish bakery Bambino to produce a show-stopping combination between traditional Jerusalem challah bread and Turkish delight.
So popular was the Israeli booth, that Keren and Itzik, who own and operate the outstanding Café Kadosh in downtown Jerusalem, had to produce double the amount of bread, pastries and other delectables than they were originally planning to bake.
The Israelis received extensive local media coverage, making them stand-outs among representatives from Kuwait, Germany, Italy, Azerbaijan, Bosnia, Burkina Faso, Kyrgystan, Kosovo and Uzbekistan.
