Spring is in full swing in Israel. And yet, in mid-March we were given a little hiccup of rain – likely the last real downpour before Autumn.

The rain will grant a few more weeks of green before the Galilee dries to yellow. That same rain gave Mt. Hermon a last chance to try on its white gown of snow. My friend and I decided to go visit the snow before it melts within days. Driving up from Central Galilee, all the way to Israel’s northern tip, we expected to be joined by hundreds, if not thousands of other folks with the same idea. And in a normal year, that’s what would have happened. But with the war still ongoing, this time was different. We arrived at the lower parking lot – empty. And then the upper main parking lot – empty except for about 10 cars!

Inside the little ski resort almost none of the normal concession stands were operational, with no rentals of skis. Apparently the snow was not deep enough for skiing. We took the gondola cable-lift up to...
