“The Jewish State of Israel has no better friends than the Evangelical Christians,” Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in front of some 200 representatives of Christian media worldwide.

In mid-October, Israel’s Government Press Office (GPO) organized a Christian media conference during which Netanyahu expressed his thanks several times for the efforts of these Bible-believing allies. “You are our best ambassadors in the whole world. You are the champions of truth. And if I may request something of you then it is to spread the truth, about our history, our presence, and about who wants peace and who does not!” Within Israeli politics, there is no one who knows Evangelical Christianity better than Netanyahu. Over a number of years, he has maintained close relationships with Christian leaders, particularly in the United States and other parts of North America. Among those close friends is American Pastor John Hagee, who many believe played a major role in Donald Trump’s electoral victory. In Orthodox circles, Netanyahu’s friendships with Christian church leaders are not always regarded as something positive, and in particular not when Netanyahu speaks in mega-churches.
