Tour description

The ministry of Yeshua lasted only about three years, most which was spent around the northern coast of Lake Kinneret (Sea of Galilee). Capernaum, known as “The Town of Yeshua,” nestled along its shores, was his base from which he set out to teach, heal and bring comfort to the peoples that followed him.

This “traveling Jewish Rabbi” wandered about in a region we call today “The Evangelical Triangle.” This is a relatively small geographic area containing the biblical sites of Capernaum, Korazin and Bethsaida. Once Jewish towns, or even big enough to be called cities, today all three are archeological and popular tourist sites. While Capernaum is the most visited site by Christian tourists and pilgrims, Korazin and Bethsaida are less frequented.

Other famous sites in this triangle are Tabgha, Mount of Beatitudes and Kursi. The first two are very close to Capernaum. Kursi is just a little off the beaten track perhaps because the name “Kursi” does not appear as such in the New Testament. Kursi is where, according to tradition, the Miracle of the Swine took place. Yeshua healed one or two men possessed by demons by driving these into a herd of pigs. According to the scripture, these events take place in the land of called Gerasenes, Gadarenes or Gergesenes. The identification of the site goes back to the Byzantine era when a very big monastery and church were built in commemoration of the miracle.

The region called the Evangelical Triangle and the Sea of Galilee were blessed with most of the miracles which Yeshua performed. The Mount of Beatitudes from which the Messiah preached his famed Sermon on the Mount is at the center of this zone. Yet just before leaving the area on his way to Jerusalem, he curses the three points of the triangle. Bethsaida was the hometown of three of his disciples, and it is the third most mentioned place, after Jerusalem and Capernaum in the New Testament. Korazin is only mentioned twice, one of which being the curse.
