Everyone wants to be a hero. In Western society today that typically manifests in children dressing up as and pretending to be their favorite Marvel character. In Palestinian society, we find kids seeking to emulate terrorists with the highest Jewish body counts.
And that sad reality is by design.
The Palestinian Authority, Israel’s ostensible “peace partner,” pours untold sums of foreign financial aid into demonizing Jews, encouraging violence against them, and lionizing those who walk that blood-soaked path.
State-commissioned school textbooks, local monuments and children’s summer camps are all part of a coordinated effort to perpetuate the conflict by brainwashing the next generation to see Israelis as nothing but foes.
The latest example of this shameful practice was exposed this week by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI).
Palestinian Authority summer camps are organized and operated by the PLO’s Higher Council for Youth and Sports, headed by former terror boss Jibril Rajoub.
At the joint opening ceremony of the youth camps in the town of Silwad near Ramallah earlier this month, Rajoub stated:
“Here in Silwad, the town of prisoners and martyrs, we announce the opening of the 2022 summer camps entitled Al-Masra wal-Asra.’”
Remember, he’s speaking to young, impressionable children.
The camps themselves included recreational activities accompanied by the indoctrination of extremist values such as reverence for terrorists serving life sentences for murder; glorifying martyrdom and death; and instilling the ideal of “Palestine from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea,” an effort to deny Israel’s existence.
Summer-camp attendees learned about the lives and violent activities of six particular terrorists who escaped from an Israeli prison late last year to much Palestinian fanfare, before quickly being recaptured.
Campers also learned about the most “successful” female Palestinian terrorist, Dalal Al-Mughrabi, who remains a role model for slaughtering 35 Israeli civilians, including children, during the 1978 Coastal Road massacre.
The 600 Palestinian Authority summer camps were attended by an estimated 42,000 children.
