Hamas and its terrorist allies on Tuesday night launched barrage after barrage of rockets at the Greater Tel Aviv area, scoring a number of direct hits.

During the evening hours, an Israeli woman was killed when a rocket struck the town of Rishon LeTzion. Hours later, a father and his daughter were killed in the central city of Lod (near Ben Gurion Airport) when a rocket hit their vehicle. Earlier in the day, two elderly Israeli women were killed when a rocket struck an apartment building in Ashkelon.

Dozens of people were reported injured, including a five-year-old child. Several of them were hurt when a rocket landed in the heart of the coastal city of Holon, hitting a passenger bus. See the following harrowing footage:

In all, over 1,000 rockets were fired from Gaza at Israeli cities over the past 36 hours.

The massive assault has forced Israel to close Ben Gurion Airport to incoming and outgoing air traffic.

But there is a silver lining, and its name is Iron Dome, which army officials say has successfully intercepted over 85 percent of Gaza rockets heading for populated areas.

A number of amateur video clips showed the incoming rockets, as well as multitudes of Iron Dome interceptors launched to take them out.

Earlier in the evening Israeli forces destroyed a residential tower being used by Hamas in the center of Gaza City after warning all civilian residents to evacuate.

A further escalation is expected in the coming hours and days.
