Magen David Adom mourns the death of IDF soldier Osher Simha Barzilay, a resident of Mazkeret Batya and MDA volunteer in the Rehovot Station, who fell in the line of duty as an operations officer on the Nachal Oz base on the Black Shabbat of October 7.

Osher started as a youth volunteer and first aid provider in Magen David Adom in 2019, and during the years she volunteered prior to joining the IDF, she saved the lives of many, underwent courses and training that enabled her to provide medical aid in MDA’s mobile intensive care units (MICUs), and even trained new youth volunteers. Osher leaves behind parents, five siblings and a partner, and was buried in the Mazkeret Batya cemetery, accompanied by many family and friends.

Hila Pilosof, MDA paramedic and youth volunteer manager at the Rehovot Station, eulogized Osher: “She is as her name suggests – Osher was filled with joy, always happy and with a smile, would be the first to help and assist when required, and made certain to join a shift every week and volunteer on the ambulance or MICU. She was a wonderful volunteer with an enchanting personality, who dreamed that she would grow to be a doctor and continue to save lives. May her memory be blessed.”
