More than 805 days after her brother Ran Gvili was killed and his body abducted to the Gaza Strip by Hamas terrorists, his sister Shira appeared before the United Nations on Thursday, making a heartfelt plea to the international community for help. She expressed the deep yearning of the nation to finally bring home the last missing Israeli.

Israeli representatives at the scene reaffirmed that both Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad know the exact location where Ran’s body is being held, and they urged other nations to stand in solidarity with the affected families.

Standing outside the UN General Assembly building in New York, Shira Gvili publicly called attention to her brother’s fate. Ran Gvili, a 24-year-old Israeli police officer from Meitar near Be’er Sheva, was severely wounded during the Hamas terrorist attack on October 7, 2023, and subsequently abducted to Gaza. Since then, there has been no reliable information about his condition.

In an emotional address, Shira spoke of over 805 days of waiting, during which the family has received no updates on his status and continues to pray for a miracle. She reminded listeners that while 254 hostages have already been returned to Israel, Ran remains the last in captivity, with his body still held in the Gaza Strip. This, she said, adds another layer of torment for the families who have long hoped for closure.

Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, echoed the demand and stated that both Hamas and Islamic Jihad are fully aware of where the body is being kept. He called on the international community to exert pressure to ensure that this final missing Israeli is brought home.

Ran Gvili had participated in the fighting on October 7, 2023, despite having recently suffered a shoulder injury. According to Israeli sources, before his abduction, he helped approximately 150 people escape from the Nova music festival and reportedly neutralized several attackers before he was fatally wounded.
