(TPS) The terrorist who Wednesday evening opened fire at the security guards working at the entrance to the town of Ma’ale Adumim, located to the east of Jerusalem, was none other than Udai Tamimi – the terrorist wanted for committing the shooting attack that took the life of IDF Sgt. Noa Lazar earlier this month. Tamimi was shot and killed by the security guards during the attack.
On October 8th, Sergeant Noa Lazar, who was on guard duty at the time, was shot and killed by Tamimi who opened fire as he drove by a security checkpoint on the road that leads out of the city of Jerusalem on its northern edge. The checkpoint is located next to the Shu’afat refugee camp.
Before he was killed, Tamimi succeeded in wounding one civilian security guard in the hand. The guard was described as a 24-year-old man who was lightly wounded and taken to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem.
Prime Minister Yair Lapid congratulated Israel’s security forces – the IDF, the Shin Bet, the police and the Border Police – for the elimination of the terrorist Udai Tamimi.
“We will not rest until we lay hands on every terrorist who harms Israeli citizens and IDF soldiers,” declared Lapid. “We will act decisively and without hesitation against terrorism.”
Minister of Defense Benny Gantz also congratulated Israel’s security forces, including civilian security guards, saying, “Their vigilance, professionalism, and determination prevented further harm to human life.”
“We will put our hands on all the terrorists and their senders,” he added, “we will act wherever and whenever it is required.”
