“Israel is the only place in the Middle East where gays can live and move freely and openly, and even have representation in the Israeli parliament.” In the same breath, Netanyahu reminded his audience that Israel is also the only place in the Middle East where women serve as fighter pilots and minorities (Arabs, in Israel’s case) are judges on the Supreme Court.

Tel Aviv is promoted throughout the world as a paradise for homosexuals. Over 250,000 people participated in the last gay parade in Tel Aviv; in fact, tens of thousands travelled from abroad specifically to take part in the event. In its approach to homosexuality, Israel is one of the most progressive countries in the world, in spite of its strict religious values. And even if the state still does not facilitate gay marriage, it is nevertheless relatively straightforward for gays and lesbians in Israel to adopt children.
