
For the past week, my daughter, who is only in the first grade, has been studying over Zoom because a child in her class caught the coronavirus. Even though my daughter is vaccinated and thus not in isolation after testing negative following the exposure, she is still studying on Zoom, to my chagrin.
On the first day after the announcement, she was one of two kids in her class that met the requirements to return to class in person, those being vaccination and a negative antigen test result. However, she felt all alone in the class and hated being different, as everyone else was studying from home. As a result, the following Sunday, she feigned illness so that she could do a trip with her grandmother. And then following that, the teacher advised that she study online, as she would feel uncomfortable being the only child physically present in class. Since then, she has been learning via Zoom and it has been very detrimental for her studies.
