How can I put myself in another person’s shoes, how can I empathize with their feelings, how can I see into their heart?

Feeling compassion for another person and seeing into their heart is called empathy. We already find this in the Bible, for example in Exodus 23:9: “You shall not oppress a stranger, for you know the soul of a stranger, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.”

Emotions are extremely important. They help us make decisions and motivate us. Reason alone cannot do this. That’s why many over the centuries have been mistaken when they thought that everything we do is right if we just think logically. In fact, without compassion, without empathy, we increasingly become cold, calculating computers. In this respect, it seems certain that emotional intelligence is more developed in women than in men; this is apparently already designed this way by creation.
