On Sunday night, the Security Cabinet unanimously approved an expansion of the military ground operation in the Gaza Strip. Tens of thousands of reservists are currently being mobilized, including our son-in-law and daughter-in-law. At the core of the decision is a strategic principle that marks a fundamental shift in Israeli security policy: “There will be no withdrawals from the Gaza Strip, not even as part of a hostage deal.”
The recent political and military developments in Israel, particularly the planned operation “Gideon’s Chariots,” are more than just a strategic ground offensive. They reveal a deep symbolic connection to biblical history. In the Bible, Gideon is a judge called by God during a time of national oppression to deliver Israel from the Midianites. Thank you for your article.
When Gideon perceived that the One speaking to him was the Angel of the LORD (Judges 6:22) he said, “Alas, O Lord GOD! For I have seen the Angel of the LORD face to face. Then the LORD said to him, ‘Peace be with you; do not fear, you shall not die.’ “
When we perceive the LORD our God, the Holy One of Israel, our Savior (Isa. 43:3) standing before us today, we might be tempted to fear, as Gideon did. But God is speaking to us today by His Son who is the express image of His person.
God’s promise to us has not changed. If we obey His voice and do all that He speaks, He will be an enemy to our enemies and an adversary to our adversaries.” (Exodus 23:22)
