Over the past two years, I’ve thought a lot about Israel’s public relations in the world. And honestly: they’re not particularly commendable. Sometimes, I even feel like there’s no effort at all to explain what we’re going through here. Israel is lonely. This loneliness is not a historical accident but a spiritual signature that runs through the entire history of Israel. Even today, after October 7, 2023, Israel is experiencing a profound form of loneliness. When Jews are attacked, the world’s sympathy is often short-lived. Solidarity quickly turns to accusation, compassion to cold calculation. In this hour of global loneliness, Israel recalls its deepest source: the covenant with God. Perhaps it is precisely this loneliness that—like with Moses—does not have to lead to despair but to divine closeness. Perhaps Israel’s faint voice in the world is not a sign of defeat but a call to all people in the spirit of God to join the mission—not to speak for Israel but with Israel: in truth, in faith, and in responsibility.

Psalm 72:18-19 that was quoted at the end of this article answers in all its majesty the centrality of Adonai and the reason why Israel exists. It is so He can show His wonders for the whole world to see. Israel experiences the loneliness so they will look to the GOD who calls Israel His inheritance, Jeremiah 10:16.
If we only look at the present we can become greatly disappointed, but by faith in the GOD who watches over Israel for His plan and purpose we can see the future that HE has planned for Israel and we take on that responsibility to make known the risen Lion of the Tribe of Judah, It is written, Yeshua HaMashiach.
