While Israel is under constant, extremely sharp scrutiny for its military operations, the international community often reacts to far bloodier atrocities by authoritarian regimes with conspicuous silence or diplomatic restraint. A striking example is the situation in Iran, where the mullah regime shot tens of thousands of its own citizens during brief protest phases without this triggering a comparable outcry from the “humane world.”
