In a direct hit by a ballistic missile launched from Iran on Beit Shemesh, at least nine people were killed on Sunday. According to rescue services, 20-30 additional people were injured, several of them seriously.
The missile struck a residential building in the city. According to media reports, numerous residents were in a shelter during the air-raid sirens. But the force of the direct impact caused a partial collapse of the building. The roof caved in, and massive debris was hurled away.
The force of the explosion had far-reaching consequences: in addition to the directly hit house, authorities reported that four other buildings collapsed due to the shockwave. Numerous surrounding homes were damaged, with windows and facades torn out and debris thrown several meters.

A spokesman for Magen David Adom stated that emergency teams rescued the injured from the rubble under extremely difficult conditions. Several victims required intensive medical treatment on site before being transported to nearby hospitals.
The Israel Defense Forces confirmed that the strike involved a ballistic missile fired from Iran. Air-raid sirens had previously warned the population in Beit Shemesh and the Jerusalem area, calling them to seek shelter. Despite the high interception rate of Israel’s missile defense systems, individual direct hits continue to occur with severe civilian consequences.
Emergency services are currently securing the area and checking the stability of the damaged buildings. Medical treatment of the injured is ongoing.
