MembersShifra and Puah, the midwives who chose life

History is not only written by kings and leaders, but also by ordinary people who choose to maintain the divine image in mankind.

Every year, as we approach Passover, I am awakened by the desire to read and revisit everything that happened in Egypt – the characters, the behaviors, the consequences, the choices of the characters. It fascinates me both personally and as a personal coach – trying to understand how people act in moments of stress and danger.

What always surprises me is realizing that the characters surrounding Moses all rise to the challenge and don’t lose their humanity. This drives their choices and actions. And we all know the results.

So now I want to bring to the forefront the two midwives Shifra and Puah. They managed to create a movement of life and redemption in a manner that was not outwardly dramatic but still profound, that is remembered for generations.
