The Israel Defense Forces are continuing targeted operations in the Gaza Strip, even under the conditions of a fragile ceasefire. According to the latest IDF information, several terror tunnels have been destroyed and numerous terrorists eliminated.
A total of eight terror tunnels were blown up by reservists of the 205th Brigade in the northern Gaza Strip over the past two months. The soldiers worked closely with the Yahalom combat engineering unit, which specializes in locating and destroying underground structures.
For many of the reservists, this was already their sixth wartime deployment since the Hamas massacre of October 7, 2023.
The operations focused on areas along the so-called Yellow Line — the demarcation line between Israeli-controlled areas and zones dominated by Hamas. Hamas’s underground network serves not only for weapons smuggling, but also as a refuge for fighters and as command centers.
Since the beginning of the war, Israel has uncovered and destroyed hundreds of kilometers of tunnels. Nevertheless, new tunnel sections continue to be discovered.
Direct confrontations along the Yellow Line
Alongside the tunnel operations, dangerous ground encounters also took place. On Saturday, several armed men crossed the Yellow Line in southern Gaza and approached Israeli soldiers. At least three terrorists were killed.
On Sunday, soldiers also shot and killed a terrorist who approached an Israeli position and was identified as an immediate threat.
Ceasefire with limited effect
Despite an officially existing ceasefire, the situation remains tense. The 205th Brigade is now being withdrawn, and the 14th Brigade is taking over the sector in order to continue ongoing operations.
The ceasefire does not mean a complete halt. Rather, it is a phase in which Israel continues to act in a targeted manner against Hamas’s military infrastructure and systematically weaken its capabilities.
