While Israel has been sharply criticized, condemned, and even threatened with arms embargoes in Europe over its conduct of war, European governments are increasingly relying on precisely this Israeli expertise when it comes to protecting their own populations. There lies a remarkable irony — and from a biblical perspective, perhaps something even greater: little Israel is becoming a blessing to the nations, as its technology now protects people in Europe from missiles, including no small number who reject, condemn, or even curse Israel.
Israel is no longer protecting only its own skies. It is helping to defend Europe’s skies and the lives of its people. It almost calls to mind the biblical idea of turning the other cheek. Europe criticizes Israel, yet Israel helps to protect Europe’s people from missiles and drones nonetheless.
