VIDEO: David Ben-Gurion’s Desert Home

Israel’s first prime minister, seen by many as a modern-day Moses, lived a quiet and humble life in the desert

David Ben-Gurion, Israel’s first prime minister, always dreamed of making the “desert blossom.” Ben-Gurion knew that to accomplish that, he’d have to set a person example. So, from 1953, he and his wife Paula resided in a small house in the desert village of Sde Boker. Today, that house is a museum to the vision and exploits of modern Israel’s first leader, and is visited each year by thousands of Israeli school children and tourists.
