There were no casualties, but local residents express growing concerns, especially in Tiberias where many of the buildings were built decades ago and not according to modern earthquake safety codes. It is feared that the relatively light tremors with strengths of 3 to 4.5 are but the forerunners of a major quake. The government has responded with new initiatives to reinforce buildings, but it might be too late.
