From one, it holds exaggerated expectations, and from the second it expects little. Much of the West still doesn’t expect much from Trump besides insolence, rash behavior and bad jokes. But, from Israel, the Chosen People, the West demands near perfection. Israel is permitted to only proportionally defend itself, love its enemies, and make impossible concessions for peace. In short, Israel is required to do what no other nation would or could.
Who would have thought the transfer of the US Embassy to Jerusalem was possible? And already two more countries have followed America’s example and moved their missions, while yet others voice interest in doing so. According to Arab media, even Saudi Arabia is today openly considering diplomatic relations with the Jewish state, going so far as to suggest that an exchange of ambassadors is a very real possibility in the near future.
