Although there is very little rain in Tel Aviv, the city is packed with 260,000 trees (not including in parks), an average of 5,000 trees per square kilometer (.6 mile).

Vancouver, Canada took first place followed by Sacramento, Geneva, Seattle and Toronto. Over the past decade the number of trees has doubled in Tel Aviv, and in recent years the municipality has sponsored several green initiatives including bicycle- and car-sharing services.
