A new Israeli app provides simultaneous translations of plays and operas on your smartphone.

Ever wish you could go to an Israeli theater to see a play or opera in Hebrew and actually understand what’s going on? Thanks to the Herzliya-based start-up GalaPrompter, you can now enjoy live Israeli performances in your own language with the help of your own telephone!

 

It is well known that the use of smartphones during live shows is strictly forbidden, but not at Israel’s prestigious Cameri Theater in Tel Aviv. Three months ago, for a Hebrew performance of the classic musical West Side Story, the theater introduced a new smart phone application called GalaPro. The app allows people who do not know Hebrew, or who are hard of hearing, to follow along in their own language.

 

Before the performance, those needing translation download the app and comfortably follow the show...
