MembersThe Remnant of Israel

Paul reminds us in Romans 9:24 that God said through Hosea (2:23): “I will call those who were not My people, My people.” This is the Church of Jesus from the nations (or Gentiles).

On the other hand among the Jews, as a result of the pogroms and persecutions throughout history, there will only be a remnant (Isaiah 10:22). This is how God prunes His vineyard so that it bears much fruit: “In those days ten men from all the nations will grasp the garment of a Jew saying, ‘Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you’” (Zechariah 8:23).

At present, there are 1.6 billion Christians who make up 32 percent of the world’s population. How many of them are true believers, or born again, is something the Lord alone knows.

In contrast there are only 14.3 million Jews. This constitutes just 0.2 percent of the world population. Of this number 6.2 million live in Israel. Before the Holocaust which saw the genocide of 6 million Jews, there were 15.3 million Jewish people in the world.
