10 More Countries Reportedly Consider Moving Embassies to Jerusalem

US President Trump’s Jerusalem decision is quickly becoming an domino effect as more nations eye the Holy City

Israel was thrilled at the weekend over news that Guatemala had decided to follow in America's footsteps by recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of the Jewish state and beginning the process of moving its embassy here.

After profusely thanking Guatemala for taking such a courageous stand, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed that the Central America nation wouldn't be the last to do so.

"I told you recently there would be other countries that will recognize Jerusalem and move their embassies," Netanyahu said. "I repeat: There will be more, this is just the beginning."

Shortly after, Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely told Israel Radio that Netanyahu's words were already coming true, as at least 10 more countries were in talks to move their embassies to Jerusalem.

Hotovely did not go into details about which countries were considering the move, but most expect Honduras to be the next to make such an announcement.

Like Guatemala, neighboring Honduras has grown very close to Israel in recent years, and its president, Juan Orlando Hernandez, spent time in the Jewish state and is a graduate of Israel’s Agency for International Development Cooperation.

Both Guatemala and Honduras were among the nine nations that voted "no" last week when the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution effectively condemning US President Donald Trump over his Jerusalem decision.
