This week Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took time out of his busy schedule for a very special and important meeting…with a 13-year-old Arab boy from Nazareth.
For years it had been the dream of Ali Salati to meet Netanyahu. Recently, the children’s aid organization Variety Israel became aware of Salati’s desire and reached out to opposition Member of Knesset Zoher Bahalul, an Arab lawmaker in the left-wing Zionist Union faction.
Bahalul was able to contact Netanyahu and arrange the meeting, during which Salati urged his prime minister to “make every effort to bring peace and unity to the whole region,” reported Israel Hayom.
The young man also presented Netanyahu with a drawing featuring himself standing hand-in-hand with a Jewish child and an Arab child.
