Without warning or fanfare President Donald Trump, America’s new Commander in Chief, ordered a missile strike in retaliation for a poison gas attack that killed at least 85 Syrians.

Trump blamed Syrian President Bashar Assad for the brutal slaughter of his own people, and within hours, a US Navy ship launched 59 Tomahawk cruise missiles from the Mediterranean Sea, hitting a Syrian Air Force base and destroying 20 fighter jets. It was the first time in the bloody, six-year civil war that American forces attacked Syria. Trump’s resolve drew praise in Arab circles and governments across the Middle East, led by the Persian Gulf states including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Qatar. Jordan followed suit.
