Arson is a form of terror Israel refuses to acknowledge. Arson, to clarify, is a criminal act of deliberately setting fire to property for which one can be sentenced up to 20 years in prison. In Israel arson turns terror when it is done in the name of the Palestinian struggle to free Palestine (i.e., Israel). This is why Israel would define arson as terror only if a “nationalistic motive” is proven.
Arson terror includes any form of deliberate fire setting, from burning twigs in order to set a forest on fire to Molotov cocktails, fire balloons, burning tires and anything else. Since 2018, for example, arson terror in the form of fire balloons from Gaza has burned 30,000 Dunams of forests, nature reserves, agriculture fields and uncultivated areas. Israel has done next to nothing to stop these highly destructive arson attacks.
