One of our favorite verses at home is the well-oiled “All things work together for good” of Romans 8:28. This belief–that no matter how difficult our troubles may seem, something good is coming–has helped us keep our sanity through many a scary time.
We happened to come across a Netflix series called “Manifest” based on Romans 8:28 that takes a look at how circumstances that seem all wrong do end up leading to healing, wholeness and redemption. It’s a pretty typical Hollywood production, but the idea of believing that all things work together for good is shown to be a powerful motivator that gets people through the worst of times. To watch you’ll have to get through what seems like a fantastical (supernatural?) event, but they do make a point.
I have always looked at Romans 8:28 with the idea of Isaiah in mind that “My thoughts are not your thoughts, my ways not your ways” (55:8-9). Knowing that God sees way beyond my puny perspective when I am in a pickle, or have a hard choice to...

No verse in the Bible is “platitude’! In my opinion it means that we are called to do his will on earth and during this journey we are transformed to becoming more like Yeshua. So whatever happens in this journey is meant to lead us to Hashem purpose for our lives, therefore ‘it works for good’!
