(TPS) The IDF Tuesday evening issued a statement confirming that the person suspected of killing the brothers Hallel and Yagel Yaniv in a terrorist shooting on February 26 in the Arab town of Huwara in Samaria was killed in a joint operation with other security forces enacted Tuesday – Purim Day – in the Jenin refugee camp.

“At the end of a joint operation by the IDF, Police, and the Shin Bet,” said the IDF, “the wanted man (for the Yaniv murders) Abad Fatah Hossein Ibrahim Harusha, (a 48-year-old resident of the Askar refugee camp near Nablus and a Hamas operative) was neutralized a short time ago in the Jenin refugee camp.”

The IDF said that during the raid, gunmen opened fire at soldiers, who returned fire, killing the wanted man. Also, explosives and blocks were thrown at the security forces during the operation and a number of disturbances developed on the spot. Israeli forces responded with measures to disperse demonstrations. Two drones were reported knocked down during the activity, and the events are being investigated.

During the operation, Israeli forces fired shoulder-mounted missiles and used additional measures against a building where the wanted man was barricaded. The forces also targeted militants who directed massive fire at them, and hits were detected. Among other things, armed men were identified who shot at the soldiers from an ambulance, and used it as cover.

Two Police special forces fighters were lightly injured and were evacuated for medical treatment. An update was given to their families.

At the same time, IDF and Shin Bet forces in Nablus arrested the two sons of the terrorist, Khaled and Mohammed Harusha, who are suspected of planning and carrying out the attack. The two were transferred for further investigation.

The IDF said that since the terrorist attack was committed, a “concentrated intelligence effort by the Shin Bet was carried out, which pointed to the location of the suspect in the Jenin refugee camp.”

Israeli politicians are already praising the security forces, comparing their actions to what Jews celebrate on Purim Day. Just as Haman and all of his sons were executed, the terrorist was killed and his two sons were captured.

Leaders of the political opposition in Israel put aside their differences with the government for the moment and issued concurring statements of congratulations alongside government leaders.

For example, opposition leader and former Justice Minister Gideon Sa’ar tweeted:

“And the Jews smote all their enemies with the stroke of the sword and killed and destroyed (Esther 9:8). Congratulating our fighters who eliminated the terrorist, the murderer of the brothers Yagel and Hallel Yaniv. I wish a full recovery to the warriors who were injured in action.”

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu congratulated the security forces for the operation saying, “Our brave warriors operated surgically in the heart of the murderers’ den. I praise them and send recovery wishes to the wounded from among our forces.

“As I say again and again, time and time again: whoever hurts us – his blood is on his head.”
