MembersIf Peres Couldn’t Bring Peace, Who Can?

While most Israelis and the international community will remember him as a man of peace, for Palestinians former President and Prime Minister of Israel, Shimon Peres, will be forever associated with suffering.

Israel Today spoke to local analysts in both Gaza and the West Bank to better understand what Peres meant to the Palestinian Arabs. Officials from Hamas and the Palestinian Authority refused to comment.

Israel Today: How was Shimon Peres’ death taken by average Palestinian Arabs?

Mukhmair Abu Saada, a Gaza-based analyst linked to Hamas: Most Palestinians regard him as one of the founding fathers of Israel, a person who was responsible for the systematic cleansing of the Palestinian people [sic]. He was the mastermind and the architect of Israel’s nuclear program, which threatens the whole Middle East. During his time as prime minister, Israel invaded Lebanon [Operation Grapes of Wrath] and killed more than a hundred civilians.

So to answer your question, Palestinians – and probably the entire Arab world – are not grieving his death.
