
We all have someone who inspires us, someone we would like to be. For me it was Larry Bird, an NBA basketball player for the Boston Celtics. He was not tall, not strong nor athletic, but he had a sense of where the ball was and how to be in the right place at the right time, so he scored points, stole balls and won games. Lot’s of them.
I liked that because I was not especially strong or tall, and it was nice to think that I also could score points and win games like Larry. Watching him inspired me and helped me have confidence to think about how I could be a better player with the skills and body God gave me.
For some of us a role model might be a friend, a parent or a celebrity. We try to look like them, wear clothes like them, cut our hair like theirs, drive a car or design our home like them.
We buy their books about how to be successful like them.
We like to imagine...
