
What do I mean by “national dialogue”?
In the Bible, God spoke to the nation of Israel. He was in a unique relationship with an entire people group, including individuals, and also nationally. The idea of God having a relationship with an entire nation was and remains unprecedented. There is no other nation that claims to be in relationship with God in such a way that their history, the events that occur to them as a nation, become sacred history.
No other nation records their history in a book and calls it holy. Except the Jews. They passed down the stories of what happened to them from generation to generation, and their history became the Bible. It is a fascinating fact that Christians still consider the history of the Jews to be their own sacred history. The startling phenomenon is that sacred history for all of Europe, North America and many nations around the world is not their own, but Jewish history.
