Every two years the Israel Air Force (IAF) organizes the “Blue Flag” battle exercises from its military airfield in Uvda. This year the mock raids will take place from November 3-14 and will include participation by the US, Greece, Italy and Germany in the military exercises held at the IAF base in the Negev Desert.

More than a thousand flight crews, technical and administrative personnel from the different countries participate in “Blue Flag” to train in cooperation with the IAF.

A variety of scenarios and tactics are practiced in both air combat and air-to-ground missions. The goal is to learn, improve and develop new techniques.

For the visiting countries this is a unique opportunity. Military experts around the world consider the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) one the best in the world. As a participant in “Blue Flag” these countries will learn about the methods and tactics used by the IAF.

The joint exercise is also of great importance for IDF as it not only strengthens the military capabilities of Israel’s allies, but also reinforces Israel’s stature in international relations.
