As part of the climate summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, the Minister of Environmental Protection, Tamar Zandberg, met with the Chinese climate envoy and with China’s deputy environment minister, with the aim of strengthening relations between the two countries and promoting cooperation in the fields of the environment and dealing with the climate crisis.
The meeting dealt, among other things, with actions initiated by China to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, negotiations within the framework of the current climate conference, the need for comprehensive international cooperation, and the emphasis not only on the commitment and declarations but mainly on their implementation.
Said Zandberg:
“The Chinese climate envoy and China’s deputy minister emphasized that Israeli climate technology and innovation are important to China. The cooperation between Israel and China in creating solutions to deal with the climate crisis can be a game changer.”
