Israel’s birth rate, at an average of 3.1 children per woman, is almost twice as high as the OECD average of 1.7 children per woman.

This may come as a surprise given the volatile situation in the Middle East. Typically, a violent atmosphere contributes to a pessimistic outlook among the local population, which in turn usually results in a declining birth rate. But in Israel, this is certainly not the case. Whether we are talking about the religious, secular or Arab sectors, Israel has an abundance of children!
