Last week an Iranian plot to recruit Israelis for espionage activities was exposed by the Israel Security Agency (Israel’s equivalent of the FBI, which is better known by the acronym Shin Bet).
The Iranians approached Israelis who then were enticed to gather vital information on Israel’s defenses, or they contacted a candidate for abduction disguised as academics and businessmen.
The Iranian plot came after a new daring Mossad operation within the borders of Iran in April. During that operation, Mossad agents entered the home of a member of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) in central Tehran and interrogated him for hours.
That operation almost certainly led to the assassination of an IRGC colonel last Sunday and to the foiling of the assassination of an Israeli diplomat in Turkey.
So, the covert war between Iran and Israel continues unabated and this was also apparent from a new action by the Israeli Air Force (IAF) in Syria last Friday evening, as we shall see.
