Rabbi Amital Bareli sent a letter to Bennett charging that the textbook presented Jerusalem as more of a Christian city than a Jewish one. The rabbi said the book’s author, Tamar Hayardeni, too often refers students to passages in the New Testament where they learn about the Christian ‘saints’ and the birth of Jesus.
Furthermore, the young Rabbi Bareli is angry that the book draws a clear connection between King David and Jesus: “Jews believe that the Messiah will come from the house of David, and this is what Christians also believe,” the author writes.
