It will be a dark day for Israeli democracy if murder and abuse are not condemned – even if it’s against a Nukba Hamas terrorist.

I always say: “Definitions matter.”

Definitions matter because they impose moral boundaries and protective measurements on a world of biased human emotions and corruption. A society that doesn’t uphold definitions or casually changes them to fit a self-serving narrative quickly falls prey to lies, believing news that hasn’t been fact-checked, and journalists whose stories hinge solely upon personal perspective, intentionally or unintentionally misleading the masses.

A clear sign of the demise of standards of speech is when society weaponizes and manipulates words to the point they bear zero resemblance to their original meaning.

For example, when the LGBTQ+ community uses the word “homophobic” as an adjective for someone they claim hates or opposes them. As a person who actually suffered from Anthropophobia (social anxiety or fear of people) and Erythrophobia (fear of blushing), I can tell you hands down that a debilitating fear is not akin to disliking a person or a disagreement.
