The harp “Kinnor David“ belongs to the lyre family. The Sea of Galilee is also shaped like the Kinnor David, which is why the sea is also called the Kinneret.

When an evil spirit kept King Saul in anguish, David the son of Jesse would play the Kinnor-David and sing before him so that this unclean spirit would depart from Saul granting him relief. Praising God drives away unclean spirits!

Since the very name David means beloved in Hebrew, this speaks of the Beloved (Eph. 1:6), namely the Lord Yeshua, the son of David and the Root of Jesse (Isa. 11:1), who was born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:1; Matth. 2) and performed much of his public ministry in word and deed around the Kinnereth – by the Sea of Galilee (see Matt. 4:12-17).

Acts 10:38 says, “Yeshua of Nazareth, whom God anointed with the Holy Spirit and with power, went about healing all who were oppressed by the devil; for God was with him.”  Even today praise is appointed to God through the believers in the midst of the assembly (Heb. 2:12).

The harp is a very special instrument of praise which speaks of our Lord Yeshua, who throughout his life was a praise to God. He always did what was pleasing to the Father (John 8:29).

The tambourine comes from the Hebrew “toph,” which is derived from taphaph, meaning to hit. The tambourine was mostly played by women, who also danced to it. In Exodus, chapter 15, verse 20 it is told: “The prophetess Miriam, Aaron’s sister, took her tambourine in hand. The other women also played their tambourines and danced together.”
