Report: Israel Eliminates Child-Killer Freed in Prisoner Exchange

Hezbollah terrorist Samir Kuntar believed killed in Israeli air strike 5 years after Israel freed and vowed to eliminate him

Israel’s Channel 2 reported on Wednesday that a suspected Israeli Air Force (IAF) strike on the Syrian side of the Golan Heights had eliminated the notorious terrorist Samir Kuntar, along with four other militants loyal to the regime of dictator Bashar Assad.

Kuntar was captured and jailed by Israel in 1979 after he led a terrorist infiltration team from Lebanon to the Israeli coastal town of Nahariya, where he killed a police officer before dragging an Israeli father and his four-year-old daughter down to the beach and brutally executing them.

Against much protest, Kuntar was released by Israel in 2008 as part of a larger prisoner exchange with the Lebanese terrorist militia Hezbollah. Upon returning to Lebanon, Kuntar was given a hero’s welcome and vowed to continue his blood-soaked jihad against the Jewish state.

At the time, then-President Shimon Peres said Kuntar would neither be forgiven nor forgotten, and an unnamed defense official promised that final justice would ultimately be served against the unrepentant terrorist.

“Samir Kuntar, who was released…in the framework of a prisoner exchange with Hezbollah, has become a dead man walking,” the official told Yediot Ahronot. “Israel will eliminate him.”

The Israeli military declined to comment on whether or not that promise had been fulfilled on Wednesday, but the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights suggested that it had.

“An Israeli plane hit a car inside the town of Hader, killing two men from Hezbollah, and three men from the pro-regime popular committees in the town,” said the group’s director, Rami Abdel Rahman.

Kuntar was known to have been given command of a local militia based in Hader.
