This is the third in a series of articles by Messianic scholar Dov Chaikin looking at the biblical and historical background of Israel, the people and the Land.
“Behold, days are coming…I will restore the captivity of My people Israel, and they will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them; they will also plant vineyards and drink their wine, and make gardens and eat their fruit. I will also plant them on their land, and they will not again be rooted out from their land which I have given them,” says the Lord your God. [Amos 9:13-15]
The theme of this passage from Amos is clearly expressed in Jeremiah 33:10-13. Over the past 100 years or so, this prophecy has been—and is being—fulfilled: fields have been bought (at exorbitant prices) from absentee Arab landowners; and what was once desolate, is now—in the main—a flourishing land.
