Five Torah scrolls were recently stolen from the Beit David synagogue in the coastal city of Jaffa.

The scrolls were quickly located and recovered by Palestinian Authority Police in the Judean city of Hebron, south of Jerusalem.

Chief Superintendent Danny Yisrael, who oversees all joint operations between Israeli police and PA security forces, said the return of the scrolls reaffirmed the importance of coexistence and cooperation. “The return of the Torah scrolls is just one example of the cooperation between Israel Police and Palestinian police in a wide array of police activities. All of these [cooperative activities] are to the benefit of all citizens, and deny criminals refuge from the law.”
